Painted Walls

For the longest time I went back and forth about painting any of the walls in my apartment. My first concern was having to paint everything back once I moved out, but after 2.5 year with white walls and no plans to move anytime soon I decided it was time.

I chose to only paint two accent walls since I wanted to use bright colors and didn't want the space to appear smaller or darker. For my bedroom I used "Lyric Lake*" to compliment all of the other blues and greens in the space. I love the way it works with the whites, golds and greens, everything just seems to pop!

For my work space I chose something a little different. I wanted the focus to be my favorite piece of art, "Duderina" by Two Rabbits Studios done for The Raveonetts. The color I picked is called "Burnt Umber*" and the stripes are the perfect backdrop to compliment my creative nook.

My space is definitely still a work in progress, but so far I happy with the results!

Design Dream: Cisco Home

One Sunday, after browsing the Urban Air Market (another San Francisco gem) I stumbled across Cisco Home, in Hayes Valley.

I've never been able to define my style, but Cisco Home says it all. It's the perfect marriage; industrial meets shabby chic with a vintage flare, combined with a hint of modern, traditional and eclectic.

I love the exposed beam ceiling of the store, with the occasional skylight filling the large space with warmth, along with tufting, and nail head detailing on select pieces seated next to the floor lamp made of natural wood branches and Edison bulbs; it's unexpected yet perfect. The unique qualities, and subtle attention to detail are exactly what I hope to find in a piece of furniture that I'd fall in love with and keep forever.

It's no secret that I love to shop. Whether I am in the market or not, I just love to take it all in, get ideas, and be inspired. There are certain stores that speak to me more than others and this one was screaming! Everything I saw was making me want to sell everything I own and start from scratch.

The icing on the cake was reading the Cisco Home mission statement (pictured above), hearing about their commitment to the environment and working with local companies and artists to "make a journey toward sustainable living." I love finding companies that embrace our natural resources, aim to create a unique product and do it all in style.

Growing up, I spent almost every day in the summer at the pool or by the water, so for a good portion of the year swimwear was a very important part of my life. Whenever I find a great swimsuit, not only does it bring back fond memories of long summer days, but it makes me want to purchase it immediately... even though my days by the water are few and far between.

Finding the perfect swimsuit can be a challenge, and in this department I believe spending a little extra can be well worth it. Fit is everything when it comes to swimwear and I have a few go-to designers and brands that I thought I'd share with you; these can be pricy, but the structure, quality and beautiful designs are a step above your average swimsuit.

When I came across the amazing selection of suits Anthropologie has this season, I was overcome with joy and immediately began my search for the perfect summer suit. This year's swimwear seems to have grabbed my attention more than most; filled with brilliantly bright colors and patterns to die for. I will have no problem finding a favorite, or two... or three.

Abby's Style Inspiration: Kourtney Kardashian

I'll be the first to admit, I love the Kardashians. And not in the "It's my guilty pleasure, love them but hate them, it's like a car wreck you can't turn away from" kind of way. I actually adore them. Ask any one of my roommates and they'll tell you, when 9:00 Sunday night rolls around the living room has to be silent save for the crazy Armenian family on the TV. And without a doubt my favorite family member is the little pistol we all know and love, Kourtney.

What initially drew me to Kourtney was the one thing she and I have in common: her height. At just over five feet, her height never seems to hinder her style. This may or may not have to do with those sky high Louboutin's she always has on her feet, but she knows how to work with what she's got, and I respect that.

Kourtney takes some style risks, but we all know that's what it takes to be a true fashionista. If you can't look back on your outfits and wonder, "What was I thinking?!" then you've never really lived.

Suited in Stripes

I love dressing up! I must admit it's easier for me to dress up, as opposed to dressing down... plus dressing up just makes me feel better. The more put together I feel the bigger I smile, and the taller I stand; and trust me, I need all the height I can get!

The standard "business suit" has always been a bit of a yawn for me, which is why I love separates and mixing and matching. I found this tweed jacket a few years ago in my moms closet and confiscated it immediately! I LOVE it, especially the bright orange lining! I know that generally tweed is reserved for the cooler months, but when the sun goes down in the city, this little blazer always warms me up. The threadbare lining and desperate need for repairs is proof that this piece is a regular in my weekly wardrobe. When combined with stripes, a silk blouse and a few metallic accessories, this outfit made me soar high above my 5'2" stature, and the 5" heels didn't hurt either.
