Let's get loud! (pink & yellow)

In the spirit of the amazing sunshine this week I decided it was time for some color; and I did not hold back! I am IN LOVE with these yellow pants from J.Crew; they might just be my new favorite go to trousers!

Yellow has always been a challenge for me to wear, as I often feel it completely washes me out. However, with these pants I feel as vibrant as I look, and surprisingly they go with just about every other color. For a more subtle look I have paired them with grey, white and black, but they are equally as fabulous with blues, greens, purples, pinks and prints (as you see here). I fully intend to carry the yellow pants well into fall with sweaters, jackets, and buttons downs and may even contemplate more colors in this style. Finding pants that fit can be challenging, so if you find something that works, work it! Happy Friday!

Chloe Rose & H.D. Buttercup Turn One!

I'm not sure if the word busy can even begin to describe my life for the last few weeks. I have been in non-stop motion, and loving every minute of it!

Last week I attended the one year birthday bash for Chloe Rose Boutique on Union Street. The store was packed from beginning to end with fashionable ladies from the bay area socializing and enjoying a fun Thursday evening in the city.

On Monday evening I joined in the fun once again at the one year anniversary for Rue Magazine at H.D Buttercup in SOMA. First, I must mention that H.D Buttercup is probably my new favorite design store! It fully exceeded my (fairly high) expectations for amazingly designed, unique yet classic furnishings with a vintage twist; I will definitely be back!

Second, I have to say that I LOVE Rue magazine; fashion, design, great entertaining tips, what's not to love! A big congratulations to both Chloe Rose and Rue Magazine on your one year celebrations and much success to come; I'm already looking forward to next year!

On a similar note, I must spread the word about Curry Up Now, an AMAZING Indian street food truck in the city! They catered the event for the Rue Magazine party and the food was incredible! They sold me on the chicken tikka masala over sweet potato fries, and I'll admit I would scour the city for this food truck for more of this dish... but the best part is, I don't have to. Being new to the blogging world, I have really enjoyed attending events such as this, and meeting other bloggers, photographers, designers and the like. It's been a great way to increase my knowledge of the blogosphere and meet some extremely talented and creative new people!

Foto Friday!

This months issue of W Magazine features an incredible editorial article photographed by Steven Meisel and styled by Edward Enninful. The photographs are pure perfection, featuring models transformed from one end of the fashion spectrum to another. Each model is beautifully photographed in an "everyday look" and then transitioned into a very traditional high-end fashion look. Viewing the images side-by-side it is often hard to believe they are the same people; which is a true testament to Enninful' styling abilities and Meisel's photography.

Although this feature is not without controversy, the photographer is accused of having a very similar feature in the August issue of Italian Vogue...  Regardless of the issue between the two editorials, I was mesmerized and inspired by these images, and believe that the work speaks for itself.

Celebration at Chloe Rose Boutique!

I'm very excited to attend to the Birthday Bash tonight at Chloe Rose Boutique ! I met Marissa Olson, the owner, a few weeks ago at her FABULOUS store on Union St. in San Francisco. Ever since then I have been dying for an excuse to return!

Walking into Marissa's store is a bit like entering your best friend's closet... if your best friend's closet is filled with amazing Rebecca Minkoff bags, beautiful jewelry, gorgeous dresses, perfectly fitting jeans and  looks like it could be on the cover of ELLE Decor or the feature story on lonnymag.com. Trust me, it's that good!

I wish I would have posted this sooner to get the word out, but hopefully anyone in the area that would like to attend can still make it this evening! A sheer thing

Each morning as I stare into the dark abyss that is my closet I am almost always drawn to pieces with certain characteristics; slightly feminine, light, soft, usually silk, and sheer.  Now, I realize this might sound like I am living in nightgown attire, only suitable for not leaving the house, but I assure you that is not the case.  Whether it’s a sheer silk top great for layering, a flowing tank, a long maxi skirt, or button down dress; if it’s sheer and silk, I’m like a moth to a flame. There is something effortlessly chic and comfortable about sheer silky like pieces that I will never tire of.

Color of the Week: Sapphire

Remember that first night of summer when you can sleep with the window open and listen to the leaves sway in the trees, while the light breeze keeps your pillow cool and the air perfectly crisp... Well, that time has FINALLY arrived in San Francisco! This weekend's weather was absolutely amazing! Although I was slightly apprehensive, I left my house both Saturday and Sunday in light summer dresses and didn't regret it in the least.
 

One thing I love about this time of year is the color changes of fall, and although the leaves don't really change in the city you can see it in the clothes. This week I am channeling one of my favorite jewel tones for fall, sapphire blue. This color has always been a consistent staple in my closet. Then again this hue is so versatile, it's great in almost any season and flattering on just about everyone.  As I think about what colors I gravitate to most often, blue is definitely near the top of the list, and sapphire is a shade that takes the cake. I love the pairing of this rich blue tone with a mustard yellow; it is a favorite color combination, and one of many great ways to spice up your look this season.

Style Inspiration: Keira Knightley

I'm not sure whether it is my love for 'Pride and Prejudice,' Chanel, or an English accent, but I have a total girl crush on Keira Knightley. Her ability to combine classic, slightly feminine pieces, with simplicity and elegance is impeccable. To top it off, she is extremely talented and beautiful; why wouldn't you have a crush on her?

Today's photography tribute is German-Australian photographer, Helmut Newton. Born in 1920, Helmut Newton is known mostly for his "controversial" fashion photography, which was featured magazines, including Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Categorized as one of fashions most influential photographers, Helmut Newton's style is often dark, gritty and captures the raw beauty of his subjects. The richness of each image is produced by his brilliant lighting and extreme contrast, but the depth of his compositions is what makes them truly timeless.
